This session will involve participants in creating multiple representations using data that captures the relationship between pressure and volume, number of particles, and temperature respectfully.
We will whiteboard the representations and use discourse to come to an agreement concerning common understanding of the best features to highlight in our system. This process simulates some of the most prevalent processes used by science.
We will discuss how this promotes the Science and Engineering Practices(SEP) and opportunities to explore the Cross Cutting Concepts (CCC). The major shift is from information dispensed from an authoritative source(teacher) toward an emphasis of students experiencing evidence based thinking and engaging in critical thinking. These are skills that equip students to deal with processing unvetted information and especially information intended to deceive.
Light breakfast will be available 8:30 am – 9:00 am
