PRISE Director Victor Donnay’s article on connecting math teaching with community-based projects involving sustainability has appeared in the Math Association of America journal Focus. He describes how his college math students have worked with a local school district to carry out a cost-benefit analysis of putting solar panels on their schools – and last week the school board voted to spend $400k to fund the solar power installation!
