Saint Joseph’s University Day of Giving
We welcome your financial assistance to help fund our PRISE initiatives, which support STEM teachers in the Philadelphia region. Please consider donating to support PRISE’s work, which includes:
STEM Teaching Webinar Series: Sponsor a speaker in the STEM Teacher Talent Development Coalition’s webinar series. A $50 donation will contribute to the $250 speaker fee. The webinar series, aimed at college and high students who are interested in STEM teaching, will present exciting new developments in STEM teaching as well as career information on teaching careers.
STEM Teacher Conference: Sponsor a teacher to attend our annual STEM teacher conference ($100). Each fall, PRISE runs a day-long conference to provide professional learning for STEM teachers and potential future STEM teachers. About 140 participants attend the conference each year.
New Teacher Support Program: Sponsor a novice STEM teacher to participate in PRISE’s New Teacher Support Program. A $250 donation will contribute to the $2250 cost for one teacher to participate in the program for one year. For the past decade, PRISE has been running this program, which supports novice STEM teachers in making the challenging transition into urban teaching. Participants meet monthly with a cohort of our new teachers to share experiences and develop their teaching practice.
Introduction to STEM Teaching Summer Program: Sponsor a college student to participate in our summer STEM teaching program. A $500 donation will contribute to the $4500 stipend a college student receives to take part in the program. In partnership with Temple University’s College of Science and Technology, we run a 9-week summer program that introduces STEM majors from Philadelphia area colleges and universities to STEM teaching.
