We are beyond thrilled to announce that Ms. Tamika Knight has been selected as the School District’s Teacher of the Month for October 2024! Ms. Knight’s tireless dedication to providing her students with the best possible educational experience shines through in everything she does. As a science and social studies teacher at Middle Years Alternative Academy, she continually seeks out opportunities to acquire new tools and resources to enrich her curriculum. From participating in programs like the Arkema Science Teachers Program to partnering with organizations like Acadia University, Ms. Knight goes above and beyond to ensure her students have access to the latest learning materials and technologies. Her commitment to career readiness is evident in the way she connects academic concepts to real-world problems and challenges.
Ms. Knight’s passion for making learning relevant and engaging is one of the many qualities that make her an exceptional educator. She understands the power of hands-on experiences and field trips in bringing lessons to life. Through her resourcefulness and creativity, she has secured numerous free field trips for her students to explore museums, historical sites, and other educational destinations. These enriching experiences not only deepen her students’ understanding of the material but also broaden their perspectives and inspire a love of learning that will serve them well throughout their lives. By actively seeking out interdisciplinary projects and collaborations, Ms. Knight helps her students see the connections between subjects and develop a more holistic understanding of the world.
Perhaps most impressively, Ms. Knight empowers her students to become active problem-solvers and change-makers. Through initiatives like the USTRIVE Project and her Need In Deed Service Learning Project, she gives her students the opportunity to tackle real-world issues and make a positive impact on their community. By connecting them with experts and providing guidance and support, Ms. Knight helps her students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in whatever careers they pursue. Her dedication to preparing her students for career readiness is truly inspiring, and we are so grateful to have her in our district. Congratulations, Ms. Knight, on this well-deserved recognition!
